The David Fleming Memorial Scholarship
Fund Purpose
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide award grants to graduating high school seniors in Butte, Tehama, Glenn, Colusa, and Plumas counties pursuing education and/or training in welding or trade careers related to agriculture and who otherwise meet the criteria as set forth by the committee. Awards shall be made to the institution on behalf of the awardee.

David Fleming attended Capay School through the 8th grade and graduated from Hamilton City High School in 1977. When David was 17 he started working for Tom and Sue Dauterman at Thomas Welding and Machine in Chico, and thus began a lifelong career and eventual partnership. David was a true engineer, builder and teacher. He has been a mentor to countless high school and college students, who have worked for him over the years, and has formed lasting friendships through his work in the ag industry. David was always willing to give someone an opportunity, especially local high school students looking to gain experience in the welding field. The vision for this scholarship is provide award grants to graduating high school seniors in the Butte, Tehama, Glenn, Colusa, and Plumas counties pursing education and/or training in welding or trade careers related to agriculture.
