A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is dedicated to making wishes come true for seniors residing in independent, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities in Butte County.  A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is a program of the North Valley Community Foundation.

A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is based on the Senior Wishes/New Chapters programs developed by Marquis Healthcare and the Oregon Health Care Foundation.  Throughout the state of Oregon many facilities have adopted this program and have provided an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.  Some of the wishes that have been granted are airplane rides, fishing trips, attending sporting events, meeting of celebrities, and family reunions.

The goal of A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is to give seniors of our centers a sense of purpose and the possibility that dreams still can come true.  A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is partnering with the North Valley Community Foundation to provide an opportunity for individuals and businesses in the community to participate in these wonderful events.

A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation is granting its first recipient’s wish at Riverside Convalescent Hospital in Chico, California.  Beverly Phipps, 80 has lived at the facility for more than 20 years and is noted for her greeting of staff and visitors as they enter the facility.  Ms. Phipps especially admires men in uniform like local firefighters.  A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation has partnered up with the Chico Fire Department to honor Ms. Phipps as an Honorary Chico Firefighter on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 10 a.m.  Ms. Phipps will visit Chico Fire Station 1, 842 Salem Street and receive a tour and demonstration of how the fire station works.  A Wish of a Lifetime Foundation will then host a barbeque lunch in Ms. Phipps’ honor with the company of the station’s firefighters.
