Annie B’s in Spotlight at Chico Thursday Night Market

Chico, California (August 18, 2009) – Nonprofits participating in the Annie B’s Community Drive will showcase their services in the Chico City Plaza during the Thursday Night Market on September 3. North Valley Community Foundation, sponsor of the Annie B’s Community Drive, is partnering with the Downtown Chico Business Association, on this special Thursday Night Market event.

Over 170 local nonprofits are participating in the 2009 Annie B’s Drive. These include a wide variety of community services. The public will have a chance to learn more about the services provided by these nonprofits at this event. Nonprofits will have displays showcasing services to the community. In addition, there will be performances on the stage by organizations that provide performing arts. A complete list of organizations and funds received is available at www.nvcf.org.

Between August 1 and September 30, participating organizations in Butte, Glenn, Tehama and Colusa counties are actively seeking donations from their supporters. Donors are encouraged to give with the incentive of grant funds as a percentage match for donations made through the Annie B’s Community Drive. One hundred percent of all Annie B’s donations go directly to participating non-profits.

During the prior two years, $2.2 million in donations from thousands of community members has been gathered and distributed through the Annie B’s Community Drive. This includes $200,000 in grant funds distributed to participating nonprofits.

The Annie B’s grant funds are made possible through a donation of $250,000 (over five years) from anonymous donors.  The Community Foundation is seeking to add an additional $50,000 to this year’s  pool, through the support of local businesses.  This year’s Co-Challengers include Holbrook’s Furniture Clearance, P,G&E, Stoner, Jeffers and Associates Accounting, Matson and Isom Accouting,. Smucker’s Quality Beverages, Tittle & Co Accounting, Safor Corporation, Soroptimists International of Chico, the Noon Exchange Club of Chico, Lundberg Family Farms, Denny Forland Law Firm, the Aaron Stewart Law Firm, Nantucket Home Store, Humphries, Burchett and Molin Law Firm, Stuart Murray of Strategic Investment Group, and Wells Fargo Bank.

NVCF is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization that builds financial resources to meet community needs through grants and programs primarily for residents in the Butte, Colusa, Glenn and Tehama counties.  The NVCF office is open Monday – Thursday, 8am-5pm and by appointments on the weekends.
