HIT — Nonprofit organizations are doubly damaged in this economy. Government grants are down and private citizens are cutting back on donations, worried about their own budgets.

That's why programs like North Valley Community Foundation's Annie Bs are so valuable.

Launched with a generous, anonymous donation, the Annie Bs are a way for nonprofit organizations to raise money.

Organizations get supporters to make contributions in their name to the foundations, which returns the donations and then some. It's definitely a win-win situation, with supporters rather than the government supplying funds.

In its third year, the Annie Bs program is ready to get started in August and ends in September, so nonprofit organizations might want to consider this innovative campaign.
