Chico, California (October 7, 2008) – On November 7, local nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in a training provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, a program of North Valley Community Foundation. The training topic will be “Resource Development for Nonprofits: Is it all about the money?”
Chico, California (October 7, 2008) – Organizers of the inaugural “Swing Fore a Cure” golf tournament are very pleased with the results, and consider it a huge success. “It was important that this be different from the rest of the charity tournaments,” states Jim Flood, founder of the Swing fore a Cure Foundation. “We wanted to attract a variety of players and do away with the traditional banquet/auction feel, which we did. Our primary goal was to raise awareness about early detection and prevention of cancer.”
In order to encourage community support for fire victims, KCHO/KFPR has incorporated into their Fall 2008 pledge drive the opportunity for donors to have a portion of their donation designated for fire victims, through the North Valley Community Foundation. Throughout the pledge drive, donors will be given the option of giving 5% of their donation to fire victims in lieu of a pledge gift.
Purpose:
Chico, California (September 16, 2007) – On Saturday, October 11, the public is invited to “A Celebration of Community,” the completion of the Annie B’s Community Drive, a program of North Valley Community Foundation. The event will take place at the Chico City Plaza from 11AM until 2PM.
The celebration includes entertainment, refreshments, and awards. The announcement of donation totals will take place at noon. In addition, participating nonprofits will display information on the services each provides. The public is invited and there is no charge.
Chico, California (September 11, 2008) – On October 3, local nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in one of a series of trainings provided by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, a program of North Valley Community Foundation. The topic will be “Nonprofit Leadership; a Primer for Boards and Senior Staff.” The facilitator for this session will be Laura Cootsona, a local consultant to nonprofit organizations and Director of the Nonprofit Leadership Institute.

Community Foundation Offers Training in Planned Giving, plus Starting and Running Nonprofits
Chico, California (August 1, 2008) – Community members will have the opportunity to participate in three trainings provided by the North Valley Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Leadership Institute. On Friday, August 22, the training topic will be “How to Start a Nonprofit.” On Monday, August 25, the topic will be “Securing Your Future; Integrating Planned Giving into your organization.” On Friday, August 29, the topic will be “How to Build a Nonprofit.”

North Valley Community Foundation Distributing Fire Donations
Chico, California (July 19, 2008) Proceeds from five new funds at North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) are being distributed on behalf of donors in response to recent wildfires in Butte County. These funds were created last month during the Humboldt Fire to provide community members with an opportunity to choose among several giving options. Once it was clear the Humboldt Fire was only one among many devastating events, the scope was immediately expanded to include all the local fires.
